'Parent & Tot Camp' & 'Wipeout Bar & Grill' Review

Image
Last week, my son and I experienced summer camp for the first time together; we had lots of fun and wanted to share it with you as another one will take place in Marinwood this August. I also review a fun surf-themed restaurant in Greenbrae to try out this summer. Enjoy! “Parent & Tot Camp” Marinwood Community Center, 775 Miller Creek Road, San Rafael: Tel: 415-479-0775 &  view website Every summer the Marinwood Community Center provides summer camp for children aged 3 and up. This year they are introducing a "Parent & Tot Camp" for  2 ½ - 3  year olds to introduce younger kids to summer camp with a view to continue it next summer based on how popular it is. I signed my two year old son and me up (at an extremely reasonable rate) and attended it last week with a friend and her daughter. The camp took place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.30 - 12.30 pm, which was perfect timing to entertain a toddler all morning before their afternoon nap.  Eac...

"What Being a Dad Has Taught Me" & Father's Day Gift Ideas

Image
This Sunday is Father's Day when we take the time to say thank you to not only our own father (and Grandpa) but to our husbands for the great job they do as co-pilot, and for the joy they bring into our children's lives. My husband and “wing man” has learnt a lot so far about being a Dad to two children and here are his top ten lessons: What Being a Dad Has Taught Me By Adam Davies Being a Dad has taught me lots of things…especially that these kids are smart, way smarter than we give them credit for, but mostly that my kids think I'm the best Dad in the world, even when I've had a crappy day. Here are the main 10 things I'm still learning daily about being a Dad: 1) I need to have a sense of humor about it all and remember to laugh at the chaos. 2) It doesn't matter how much you talk about poo, you'll never get used to the smell of someone else's! 3) Having two kids now, it's amazing how talented I've become at doing things one handed. 4) I now k...

Image
Most of us moms appreciate a well-deserved glass of wine and we are so fortunate to live so close to the beautiful wine country. This week my friend Elena McAlpine suggests some great wineries that are family friendly day trips out. She is also sharing some great savings to celebrate the launch of Grapebomb by giving away their new ‘ Napa Card ’, see details below on how to win one! It’s easy just pop, pour and breath! Here’s to You, Mom! By Elena McAlpine, posted June 8 th 2011 At the end of a long day with my 2 year old, usually consisting of six outfit changes (her, not me) and a few temper tantrums (me, not her) I love to relax with a nice, big glass of wine. It’s a ritual that I cherish, opening a bottle of Pinot Noir and sitting down with my husband to relax and talk about our day. It’s a little reward I give myself after my daughter insists on wearing a shower capand nothing else to the grocery store or points at a blemish on my face and asks if she...
